Taking a boat we said goodbye to Phi Phi and headed over to Krabi to explore our last bit of Thailand for a week.
We decided to stay a little way out of Krabi Town itself, right near the sea. It was a beautiful spot with many small restaurants lined all along the beach. It was a beautiful place to relax, enjoy some food and watch the sunset.
Every Friday night Krabi Town closes a few little streets and opens up some night market stalls. We took a scooter in to explore. The main focus here is the amazing array of foods. From bbq meats, traditional Thai food, coconut ice cream to amazing brownies! The food was the definite winner here. Also, while you're there take the stairs up to the temple just on the other side of the road.
We found out from some online research that we were staying right near a beautiful nature trail hike so we couldn’t resist getting some scooters and heading over. The hike took about two hours up and and hour and a half back down and was very steep it was a tough climb especially with the heat and humidity, but the view was stunning! Well worth it if you’re up for stretching those legs!
We stayed around 10km up the coast and it was a beautiful quiet spot with not too many tourists. Coming from Phi Phi it was a lovely break from crowded places!
Krabi itself isn’t a huge town and we found ourselves with a little too much time on our hands.
We set off at 7.30am and we are so glad we did! It was quiet with only a couple of other people exploring at this time. The sun also wasn’t direct over head so we were shaded by the trees most of the way up. However, despite all this it was agonisingly sweaty even at this time of day. We dread to think how hot it is heading up later. Bring plenty of water, a towel for the sweating and maybe a change of clothes for the way down!
